  Probably it´s better to buy a generic domain than a country domain. There are astronomers in the whole world, not only in Malaysia :)

  If you want national and international readers astronomynotes.com is better. If you only want readers from your country, astronomy.net.my could be better.

  Does the country domain name brings more traffic from the country itself?

  This is a good question but I'm not sure about the answer. However, I think a country domain brings less traffic from the world. For example, when was the last time you visited a .ec .co .pe .mx .ar .br or .cl domain? When was the last time you visited a .com domain? :)
